What Happens If Blood Sugar Levels Are Not Controlled

Dr. Edward C. Suarez is the lead investigator for this study. The aims to decrease risk for type 2 diabetes or heart disease by reducing blood sugar levels and unhealthy behaviors associated with stress. The Awareness Study is investigating two intervention programs to determine which is best at reducing your risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease.  

Before people develop type 2 diabetes, they almost always have “” — a condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. Recent research has shown that some long-term damage to the body, especially the heart and circulatory system, may already be occurring during prediabetes.
