Connections Israel actually connects our soldiers with our donors. We want our donors to meet the soldiers. We provide this through our videos, pictures, and website, to show how we are directly helping them. We see the IDF as one army, not a mixture of combat and non-combat soldiers. We want to EQUALLY help all soldiers of the Israeli army and provide for their needs. We don’t discriminate against donors; all donors are welcome. If our donors are in Israel we set up where donors can visit soldiers and see their expressions when they open their gifts.
We here at Connections Israel aim to run a transparent, low administrative costs operation. Our goal is to provide our soldiers with their basic needs by directly bringing the supplies to the base ourselves.
There are approximately 6,000 lone soldiers currently serving the IDF. These soldiers do not have connections to their immediate family members in Israel. 176,500 soldiers are in active duty. Israel’s mandatory draft is from the age of 18. Boys are required to serve 3 years, girls serve 2.
