I wanted to touch on this subject again because looking back on that post, the title may have been a bit misleading. All of the information written in the article is factual, but I wanted to clear up any possible inference that Ezekiel bread does not contain wheat because, well, WHEAT is the #1 ingredient in Ezekiel bread! So, with that said, I have titled this article Sprouted Grain vs. Whole Wheat Bread. Here is how the process works: WHOLE GRAINS It all starts with whole grains. Whether the end-goal is to produce Whole Wheat Bread or Sprouted Grain Bread, the show does not even start without the grains. to make whole wheat bread, the whole grains are mashed up and flour is mixed in to make sprouted grain bread, the whole grains are keptin their live form and are sprouted by soaking the grains in water and allowing them to germinate. There is NO FLOUR in sprouted grain bread. Most Whole Wheat Breads have added sugar. Sugar causes an insulin response, causing your blood sugar to rise. Sprouted Grain (or Ezekiel) Bread has NO added sugar. Feel free to read about the , but what I am basically getting at is that from a health standpoint, if you had to choose between white bread, wheat bread, and sprouted grain (Ezekiel) bread, there is a worst, better, and best choice here. Neither one is going to harm you in any way, shape, or form on the surface. But, for health reasons, your sprouted grain bread would be the best choice, then whole wheat, then white. So, What Is Ezekiel or Sprouted Grain Bread? Ezekiel is organic, sprouted whole grains. The grains are given a whole new nutrient composition when sprouted rather than simply mashed up and combined with flour. It is said to increase the amount of healthy nutrients andreduce the amount of harmful anti-nutrients. But Is Ezekiel Bread Better than Whole Wheat Bread? This answer depends on what ‘BETTER’ means to you. If you are looking for a more nutritious bread-option then yes, Ezekiel bread is the way to go. If you care more about the taste of your bread, then it might not be your best option. If you are looking for a less fibrous piece of bread, then you may choose white or wheat bread over Ezekiel. The choice is entirely up to you! I would suggest doing your own research, maybe experiment a little with each bread-type to see how your body reacts to the source. Ezekiel Bread/Sprouted Grain Based off of these nutrition labels that I pulled off of the internet, the macros aren’t much different. So pick your potion ladies and gentlemen. Eat whatever bread your little heart desires. Ya’ll know I preach balance and moderation. 1 slice ofEzekiel Bread contains 4g Protein / 15g Carbohydrates / 0.5g Fat / 3g Fiber 1 slice of Whole Wheat Bread contains 4g Protein / 21g Carbohydrates / 0.5g Fat / 4g Fiber *Oh, and my husband and I sometimes eat Ezekiel Bread.
