Healthy Blood Sugar Levels Email

A recent study showed that anyone with a fasting blood sugar of over 87mg/dl was at increased risk of diabetes. So-called “pre-diabetes” is a deadly disease driving our biggest killers – heart attacks, strokes, cancer and more. It can kill you before you ever get to diabetes, and it carries with it nearly all the risks of diabetes. It can even cause “pre-dementia” or mild cognitive impairment from high insulin levels and insulin resistance.

Yet most doctors are not concerned until the blood sugar is over 110mg/dl or, worse, 126 mg/dl, the level that technically signals diabetes. But diagnosing problems with insulin resistance and blood sugar control at these standard levels is already late in the game.

Dr Mark Hyman in his book The Blood Sugar Solutions, says, “Your blood sugar is the last thing to go up. Your insulin spikes first…”

Early testing is advisable for anybody with a family history of diabetes. If you have you have already reached the very late stage called type 2 diabetes when your pancreas has been damaged, you can still experience extraordinary gains in health and vitality. Remember: diabetes can be reversed. Lifestyle and genetic predisposition together resulted in diabetes. Making lifestyle changes can have a profound effect on the course of the disease, reversing many of the symptoms to the point of remission in many cases.

So if you are “pre-diabetic,” don’t think it isn’t a problem until it becomes full blown diabetes, because as far as health risks are concerned it really isn’t pre-anything. Think of it as being on a metabolic continuum. If your blood sugar levels are over 87mg/dl, you probably already have insulin resistance.

NOW is the time to take action. NOW is the time to change your lifestyle to a healthier, more natural way of living. It just might prevent you from progressing down the metabolic continuum toward diabetes.
