Healthy Blood Sugar Classification

Could Parkinson’s and Cinnamon be the solution to an illness that affects so many older Americans? Maybe Cinnamon could prevent the onset of Parkinson’s disease? Or at least mitigate it’s effects to some extent. We look at the evidence.

Parkinson’s disease so named after an English doctor, James Parkinson, in 1817 who first described the symptoms. But Parkinson’s was mentioned in ancient China as early 425 as cited in . Indians too have known about Parkinson’s for centuries, with Ayurvedic treatment playing a prominient role. According to the “approximately 60,000 Americans are diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease each year, and this number does not reflect the thousands of cases that go undetected.

According the , Parkinson’s disease is a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder that affects one in 100 people over age 60. It is progressive disease that affects a small area of cells within the mid-brain known as the substantia nigra. Gradual degeneration of these cells causes a reduction in a vital chemical neurotransmitter, dopamine. The decrease in dopamine results in resting tremors on one side of the body, generalized slowness of movement, stiffness of limbs; and gait and balance problems.

While the MJFF foundation has done much work, they have yet to find a cure. Many of the drugs for Parkinson’s become less effective over time. But increasingly we think there is sufficient evidence that Cinnamon hold an exciting possibility for a cure or at the very least to extensively mitigate the damaging effects of Parkinson’s Disease. HOW PARKINSON’S AND CINNAMON MAYBE BE WORKING

The latest research from the  done on mice, found that Cinnamon, especially Ceylon Cinnamon maybe an ideal treatment option for Parkinson’s disease. The study goes on to say “Although both types of cinnamon are metabolized into sodium benzoate, by mass spectrometric analysis, we have seen that Ceylon cinnamon is much more pure than Chinese cinnamon as the latter contains coumarin, a hepatotoxic molecule “. Why would Cinnamon be good treatment option of Parkinson’s you ask?

  • This is because Cinnamon is metabolized in the liver into Sodium Benzoate, which apparently enters into the brain and, Helps prevent the loss of Parkin and DJ-1, Protects neurons, Normalizes neurotransmitter levels, and Improves motor functions.
  • Sodium Benzoate also helps regulate the level of Ammonia in your blood and prevents it from becoming too high. High Ammonia levels damage your brain and nervous system. At least according to by the University of Maryland.
  • Of course one must not confuse artificially made Sodium Benzoate that commonly used in soft drinks with the all natural Cinnamon that is metabolized into Sodium Benzoate. Natural sodium Benzoate generated with Ceylon Cinnamon from your body apparently works differently.
  • Sugar – Cinnamon has the ability to control your blood sugar levels. Reliable research indicates that sugar impairs cognitive abilities. According to by Dr. Furman ” Studies on those who have lived with diabetes for many years have found deficits in learning, memory, motor speed, and other cognitive functions “

While the Rush University study was done with Cinnamon powder, we also think that Ceylon Cinnamon Bark Oil maybe another treatment option for Parkinson’s disease. The evidence is indirect and anecdotal. Take a look at , which found that Cinnamon extract, corrects cognitive impairment in Alzheimer’s Disease. Other studies have found that cinnamon has the ability to untangle TAU particles in the brain.

Admittedly Alzheimer’s is not Parkinson but there is a similarity. Might Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s be variation of each other? Could Cinnamon’s ability untangle Tau particles in the brain mitigate the effects of Parkinson’s?

Cinnamon Oil apparently has the ability to penetrate the blood brain barrier. This unique ability, a property present in many essential oils may hold more promise that we give credit for. Do not forget that Cinnamon is a powerful anti-oxidant that can potentially repair damaged cells, particularly useful for the brain.

HOW TO TAKE CINNAMON FOR PARKINSON’S

If you decide to try Cinnamon for Parkinson’s or to improve your cognitive function whether for work or exams, here is the way to do it. You understand we are not suggesting a cure. At worst you will have something that smells great.

Cinnamon Powder – Add 6g (1.2 teaspoons) into boiling hot water and make a cup of tea. Let it brew for 3 minutes, strain and drink. The US Department of health says one should not consume no more than 6g per daily for six weeks or less. for full side effects of cinnamon. Add a dash of lime (not lemon) if you wish. The lime adds an amazing flavor. As much as possible you should have cinnamon on its own to preserve its efficacy and effectiveness. Adding to juices and cereals, especially dishes with sugar we feel will make cinnamon less effective since Cinnamon will have more work to do. And since you can only take about 6g of cinnamon, why waste the opportunity. And cut the sugar and avoid sugar laden processed foods. Cinnamon Stick Tea - Cinnamon sticks tend to be better than cinnamon powder. This is because most powder is packed in glass bottles exposed to sunlight and moisture. If it is packed in a triple layer sealed bag, then powder is an acceptable option. But discover how to makeCeylon Cinnamon stick on our video . Yes it takes time, but you can make a batch and keep it in the refrigerator. Cinnamon Black Tea – If you are not allergic to caffeine try our . This is a premium Ceylon Black Tea infused with Ceylon Cinnamon Bark Oil. No flavoring of any kind. Only the potent Cinnamon Bark Oil. Interestingly of a study done in Singapore found that black tea seems to have an effect in reducing the symptoms of Parkinson’s. And it was not caffeine in black tea that was effective but something else. According to Dr. Micheal McGregor in , avoiding dairy, exercising, avoiding pesticides and head trauma (goes without saying) to prevent Parkinson’s is an important treatment practice.

The evidence is faint. We have much more research to do. But there is a glimmer of hope that cinnamon might be a possible solution for Parkinson’s.

The FDA has not approved Cinnamon to cure any medical condition. This information is presented for informational purposes and is not intended to treat, diagnose or cure any illness. Consult a physician before taking any Cinnamon.
