Blood sugar is a term that refers to the level of glucose in the blood Blood sugar concentration or glucose level, regulated in the body. Glucose which flowed through the blood is the main source of energy for the body’s cells.
Although the so-called “blood sugar”, in addition to glucose, we also find other types of sugars, such as fructose and galactose. However, only glucose levels are regulated by insulin and leptin.

When the glucose concentration decreased, as is consumed to meet the energy needs of the body, the pancreas will release glucagon, a hormone that targets cells in the liver.
Then these cells convert glycogen into glucose (this process is called glycogenolysis). Glucose is released into the bloodstream, to improve blood sugar levels. When blood sugar levels rise, either because of changes in glycogen, or because the digestion of food, other hormones are released from the beads contained cells in the pancreas.
This hormone, called insulin, causing the liver to convert more glucose into glycogen (this process is called glycogenoses), which reduces blood sugar levels.

Blood Sugar Too High
If the level is too high, which is called hyperglycemia, appetite will be suppressed for a short time. Hyperglycemia in the long term can cause health problems prolonged also associated with diabetes, including damage to the eyes, kidneys, and nerves.
Increased blood sugar ratio due to an accelerated rate of glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis metabolism occurs in the liver.
Diabetes mellitus type 1 is caused by not enough or not it produces insulin, while type 2 is caused by inadequate response to insulin is released (“insulin resistance”). Both types of diabetes has resulted in too much glucose in the blood.
