Blood Sugar Levels 8 Hours After Eating

CHOLESTEROL VALUES Initial Classification Based on Total Cholesterol and HDL Cholesterol Levels

Total Cholesterol:

  • <200 mg/dl (5.2 mmol/L): Desirable blood cholesterol
  • 200—239 mg/dl (5.2—6.2 mmol/L): Borderline – high blood cholesterol
  • 240 mg/dl (6.2 mmol/L): High blood cholesterol

HDL Cholesterol:

  • <35 mg/dl (0.9 mmol/L): Low HDL cholesterol

Treatment Decisions Based on LDL Cholesterol Level of 100 mg/dl (2.6 mmol/L)

Patient Category Initiation Level & LDL Goal Dietary Therapy:

  • Without CHD and <2 RF: 160 mg/dl (4.1 mmol/L) & <160 mg/dl (4.1 mmol/L)
  • Without CHD and e”2 RF: 130 mg/dL (3.4 mmol/L) &  <130 mg/dL (3.4 mmo/L)
  • With CHD: >100 mg/dL (2.6 mmol/L)

Drug Treatment & Goal of Treatment

  • Without CHD and <2 RF: 190 mg/dL (4.9 mmol/L) & <160 mg/dL (4.1 mmol/L)
  • Without CHD and e”2 RF: 160 mg/dl (4.1 mmol/L) & <130 mg/dl (3.4 mmol/L)
  • With CHD: 130 mg/dL (3.4 mmol/L) & 100 mg.dL (2.6 mmol/L)

DIAGNOSIS OF DIABETES

  • Fasting blood glucose >126
  • Any glucose >200
  • GTT: 2hrs >200

EFFUSIONS (PLEURAL/PERITONEAL) Exudate (IU/dl)

  • Fluid LDH >200
  • Fluid protein >3 g
  • Fluid/serum LDH ratio >0.6
  • Fluid/serum protein ratio <0.5
  • Specific gravity >1.016

Transudate (IU/dl)

  • Fluid LDH <200
  • Fluid protein <3 g
  • Fluid/serum LDH ratio <0.6
  • Fluid/serum protein ratio  >0.5
  • Specific gravity <1.016

HYPERTENSION (JNC VII for Adults 18 yrs old)

  • Normal: <120/<80
  • Pre-hypertension: 120-139/80-89
  • Stage 1: 140-159/90-99
  • Stage 2: >160/>100

ACID-BASE DISORDERS Acid-base disorder/Initial change/Compensatory change/pH/Expected value range change

  • Metabolic Acidosis: decreased HCO3/decreased PCO2/decreased pH/PCO2=1.5(HCO3)+8 (PCO2=last 2 digits of pH)
  • Metabolic Alkalosis: increased HCO3/increased PCO2/increased pH/PCO2=0.9(HCO3) 9
  • Respiratory Acidosis: increased PCO2/increased HCO3/decreased pH/acute: 10(PCO2)=0.08(pH) & chronic: 10(PCO2)= 0.03(pH)
  • Respiratory Alkalosis: decreased PCO2/decreased HCO3/increased pH/acute: 10(PCO2)=0.08(pH) & chronic: 10(PCO2)=0.03(pH)
