Blood Glucose Levels Drop Rapidly

I LOVED the bright pink colour and seen as I failed to capture any snaps on the first round went back for seconds the following day. Just to be sure to be sure…it was even more amazing than I remembered a mere 24 hours later.

So incredibly refreshing…a whole food detoxifying smoothie to kick off the New Year on the right tasty front!

Beet – cleanses the liver, purifies the blood, anti-inflammatory, source of iron

Avocado – helps lower blood pressure, lubricates joints, anti-inflammatory, loads of healthy fats, high in fibre

Strawberries – high in antioxidants, rich source of vitamin C, benefits digestion

Apple – helps balance blood sugar levels, helps lower cholesterol, aids digestion

Ginger – cleanses the body by stimulating digestion, circulation and sweating. Its digestive actions may serve to cleanse the build-up of waste and toxins in the colon, liver and other organs

That said…I’d happily have this smoothie regardless of it’s health benefits. I generally go with my gut, head later, but this time of year it is nice to give your body a little fighting boost with the chill still in the air, and the sweet treats lingering at every corner. Not that I’m about to pass them up…it’s just nice to balance it all out!

Pretty Pink Princess Beet Detox Smoothie by Michelle Hunt Prep Time: 5 minutes Keywords: blender raw beverage snack breakfast gluten-free grain free vegan vegetarian sugar-free soy-free almond milk apple beet strawberries 6058112   Ingredients (Serves 1) 1 small raw beet finely grated – somewhere between a golf ball and tennis ball! 1 medium organic apple chopped core and all 1/2 a ripe avocado 120g (1 cup) frozen strawberries 250ml (1 cup) unsweetened organic almond milk (carrageenan free!) 1 tbsp lemon juice 1 tsp fresh ginger grated 1/4 tsp cinnamon 1-2 pitted Medjool dates Instructions Blend together all ingredients until perfectly smooth. Use organic produce whenever possible. Apples are one of the worst offenders when it comes to pesticide residue so it’s best to buy organic, otherwise peel.
